Thrift Industry Leadership Conference - On April 23-24, 2001, OTS convened CEOs and Directors of the thrift industry, industry experts, and senior OTS officials for the 2001 Thrift Industry Leadership Conference. The conference had three main objectives: to encourage strategic thinking; to encourage the exploration of new markets and opportunities; and to position OTS to work with the industry to support a variety of business strategies that operate in a safe and sound way. U.S. Department of the Treasury - Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI): http://www.cdfifund.gov/ - The Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund was created to expand the availability of credit, investment capital, and financial services in distressed urban and rural communities. The Fund provides infusions of capital to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) that serve distressed communities and low-income individuals. CDFIs are specialized financial institutions that work in market niches that have not been adequately served by traditional financial institutions. CDFIs include community development banks, credit unions, loan funds, venture capital funds, and microenterprise loan funds. The Fund also provides incentives to traditional banks and thrifts to expand financial services in distressed communities through the Bank Enterprise Award (BEA) Program.
