Research Project: Evaulation of Selected Rainbow Trout Lines Fed Grain-Based Diets under Farm Scale Conditions

Location: Leetown, West Virginia

2004 Annual Report

4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
This report documents research conducted under a specific cooperative agreement between ARS and the University of Idaho. Additional details of this research can be found in the report for the parent project 1930-31000-003-00D, Utilizing Genetics for Enhancing Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture Production.

Fish from 20 genetic groups were sent to the University of Idaho, Hagerman facility for rearing. These same groups are reared at our Leetown facility and some of the same families are also reared in North Carolina. Each genetic group has been divided into replicate tanks and is being fed either a control diet high in fishmeal content or a diet high in protein derived from plant sources.
