Research Project: Grain Fractionation for Efficient Fuel Ethanol Production

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to increase the efficiency and lower the cost of fuel ethanol production from corn.

Approach:
Develop ¿upstream¿ dry milling fractionation processes to recover valuable non-fermentable corn kernel coproduct fractions (pericarp and germ) and to produce high-starch fractions for more efficient ethanol production.
