Research Project: The Collection and Conservation of Cultivated and Wild Crop Genetic Resources

Objective:
This project is to support collaboration in the collection, evaluation and preservation of plant genetic resources between the national plant genetic resources programs of the U.S. and Azerbaijan.

Approach:
1. Scientists from the U.S. and Azerbaijan will work together to plan and execute a plant exploration in Azerbaijan for wild and cultivated woody landscape plants. 2. Scientists at the Azerbaijan Germplasm Resources Institute will procure and install the identified laboratory, office and field equipment needed to support the seed processing and plant exploration activities of Institute and the U.S./Azerbaijan collaboration.
