Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

This page provides resources regarding the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. § 552. FOIA provides individuals with the qualified right to obtain records from certain government agencies. Section 1061(i)(2) of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act makes the Board an "agency" for purposes of FOIA.

FOIA Regulations

The Board published interim-final regulations to implement FOIA in the Federal Register on April 10, 2007, and will become final on May 25, 2007. Individuals may submit written comments regarding these regulations to: FOIA Officer, Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, The White House, Washington, DC 20502. Comments may also be faxed to 202-456-1066 or e-mailed to email address - privacyboard -at- who.eop.gov. Given the additional time required to process mail through security procedures, the Board recommends sending comments via fax or e-mail. Comments must be received by May 25, 2007.
