Comprehensive Plan for the National Capital
In the Comprehensive Plan for the National
Capital: Federal Elements, the Commission sets policies and goals for future
federal development and helps to coordinate planning between federal and
local jurisdictions in the nation’s capital.
Designing
for Security in the Nation's Capital
On November 1, 2001 the Interagency Task Force released its
report on security measures in the Nation's Capital. The report includes
recommendations for Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House and
also focuses on design and security plans for President's Park, the

D.C. Tour Bus Management
Initiative - Final Report
The initiative proposes ideas for improving tour bus operations,
traffic conditions, the visitor experience, and the city environment.
Downtown Circulator -
Executive Summary
The Downtown Circulator is planned as a hop-on, hop-off transit system
that would carry visitors, residents, and workers around the Monumental
Core.
Extending the Legacy
In 1997, as part of its long-range planning responsibilities,
the Commission released this framework plan for Washington's Monumental
Core, Extending the Legacy: Planning America’s Capital for the 21st
Century.
Federal Capital Improvements Program
(FCIP), Fiscal Years 2005-2010
The Commission's Federal Capital Improvements Program,
an annual publication, reports on the public works projects proposed by
federal agencies over the coming six years.

Procurement Study
A study released by the National Capital Planning Commission finds that
federal contract and procurement spending has been one of the most
important forces driving the Washington-area economy during the past
decade.
Memorials and Museums Master
Plan
The result of a two-year collaborative effort, this master plan will change the way future
memorials and museums are developed and located in the Nation's Capital.
National Capital Urban Design and
Security Plan
The National Capital Urban Design and Security Plan addresses
the alarming proliferation of unsightly and makeshift security barriers
that are negatively impacting great cities across the nation. The Plan
primarily focuses on federal facilities in the nation’s capital, but its
principles and concepts can easily be applied to other public and private
lands throughout the nation. It identifies a variety of security design
solutions including “hardened” street furniture and landscaped planting
walls that can enhance local streetscapes, while still providing good
security.

NCPC Strategic Plan,
2004-2009
NCPC's strategic plan for 2004-2009 describes the Commission's mission, its values, and its vision, and conveys the
agency's goals over the coming years.

Quarterly
Each quarter, NCPC produces a newsletter that reports on
Commission actions and highlights major activities of the Commission.

South Capitol Street Report by ULI
Advisory Panel
NCPC and the D.C. Office of Planning commissioned an advisory panel of
the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to provide
specific land use, transportation, and urban design recommendations for
the South Capitol Street Corridor. This report outlines the panel's
findings and suggestions.
South Capitol Street Urban Design Study
The South Capitol Street Urban Design Study proposes several potential
scenarios for the revitalization of the South Capitol Street Corridor and
the Southeast Waterfront. The study is a joint effort by NCPC and the
District of Columbia Office of Planning.

Transportation Handbook
This handbook, prepared for the General Services
Administration, provides federal agencies in the National Capital Region
with guidelines for preparing Transportation Management Programs (TMPs).
Washington’s Waterfronts
In this first phase of the Waterfront Study, the Commission
assessed existing waterfront conditions, recommended development and
remediation policies, and identified implementation measures for selected
waterfront areas.
