Abraham Lincoln

New Lesson Plan:
Abraham Lincoln: The Face of a War
The two lessons in this issue use portraits of Abraham Lincoln as an introduction to a study of the Civil War. All of the portraits are from Lincoln’s own time: an 1860 Mathew Brady photograph, Alexander Gardner’s famous “cracked-plate” photograph from 1865, two plaster “life masks,” and an eyewitness drawing of the president’s arrival in the enemy capital of Richmond at the close of the war.
