Farm Income and Wealth Statistics

These are the latest data on U.S. farm sector income and wealth statistics. The data include historical U.S. and State-level farm income and wealth estimates, and U.S.-level forecasts for the current calendar year.

Data are released three times a year: Usually in early February, late August/early September, and late November/early December, coordinated with other key U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data releases, including the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE). The U.S.-level, calendar-year forecast is first provided in February. The late August or early September release converts the prior year's farm income and balance sheet forecasts to estimates, adds State-level farm income estimates, and updates the current year’s forecast. The late November or early December release updates the current year's forecast.

Unless otherwise noted, data are as of February 7, 2024. The next forecast is scheduled to be released on September 5, 2024.

Note: Estimates may be revised, generally because of newly available information. USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is a primary source of information. Revisions to the USDA, NASS data are incorporated into USDA, Economic Research Service estimates when preliminary data become final. Examples include revisions in official estimates of commodity production resulting from USDA’s new Census of Agriculture data. Estimates may also be revised when administrative data are changed.
