Critical Habitat - Maps and GIS Data (West Coast Region)

These maps and spatial data represent critical habitat proposed or designated by NOAA Fisheries under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) in the West Coast Region (WCR).

All available critical habitat spatial data can be viewed interactively in the Protected Resources App, downloaded as a file geodatabase, or accessed through a map service. Metadata is populated in the geodatabase; it can also be viewed in the InPort metadata catalog.

For each critical habitat dataset, the proposed rule or final rule and Code of Federal Regulations (50 CFR 226) should be consulted for the complete description of the proposed or final critical habitat. Official critical habitat boundaries may include regulatory text that modifies or clarifies maps and spatial data. Proposed rules, final rules, and the CFR also describe any areas that are excluded from critical habitat or otherwise not part of critical habitat (e.g., ineligible areas), some of which have not been clipped out of the spatial data.
